Detectives investigating the murder of Jude Gayle from stab injuries in West Norwood on 24 September have charged a man from Dunelm Grove He appeared in Bromley Magistrates court on 30th September.

The London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, recently launched a plan to tackle rising knife crime in London.
On Wednesday 25th January at 7.15am a young woman was involved in a traffic collision on Thurlow Park Road near Birkbeck Hill SE21 8JS not far from the Tulse Hill one –way system.
She was taken to hospital by air ambulance but tragically died the following day.

A teenager was stabbed during a fight at 3.30pm on a number 2 bus on Tuesday in Norwood Road.
The air ambulance helicopter landed in St Lukes Gardens to take the young man to a major trauma unit . Police said the young man’s condition is not life threatening or life changing @RoySmithMPS . They will circulate more information as it becomes available.

Ernest Avenue on Saturday morning
A 17 year old was attacked on the top deck of a 432 bus in the early afternoon of Friday 2nd March near the bus station in West Norwood . He is now recovering in hospital. Ernest Avenue remained closed this morning whilst awaiting for the police to complete the forensics.

The police said they have increased patrols in and around the borough to reassure and protect the public, and to act as a strong deterrent to anyone thinking of committing further violence in the aftermath of these incidents.

Just after 4am on Friday night ( 5/8/11) Daniel Famakinwa age 20 , of Manor Park in east London was shot at the bus stop near Waylett Place, off Norwood Road. Sadly he died shortly afterwards in hospital.
Three men arrested in connection with this murder have been released. Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Goode said: “”I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, to come forward as you may hold significant information.”

Tarpaulins on Nettlefold Hall roof
Thieves have stolen much of the copper roofing on West Norwood Library and two weeks ago went as far as stealing from the roof of the chapel in the cemetery. The buildings have been left very vulnerable to the recent heavy rains and West Norwood Library & Nettlefold Hall are both closed temporarily to dry out and repair the electrics and stage fittings. Events and meetings are transferring to alternative venues. Funerals are continuing to take place in the chapel.
The price of copper has rocketed and thieves are stealing copper where they can find it regardless of the consequences. Thefts of vital signal wiring on railway and tube lines is now the cause of many train delay – as reported in the Evening Standard:

visited Woodvale estate on Sunday meeting relatives, residents shocked by this tragic event. The police are investigating the shooting of a young man, Ricardo Cunha, who was a well known and respected resident on the Woodvale Estate.
