Progress on new primary school for West Norwood

Lambeth council is developing plans for a new primary school in West Norwood to meet the growing demand for primary school places in the area.
An ‘in principle’ agreement has been reached to buy  a site in central West Norwood. It is hoped that an announcement on the site can be made soon.
Architects have been appointed to design the new school. The outline programme shows work starting on site in May 2011 with the new 2-form entry school completed for the September 2012 term. Temporary facilities would be ready for September 2011.
Governors of the popular Julian’s primary school have agreed in principle to the new school  becoming part of Julian’s. If the money can be found to expand the original Julian’s school then the new building can also be used as a decant site for the original Julian’s school. The current 1-form entry Julians’s school could eventually expand to a split site 4-form entry school, with 2-forms of entry on each site.
Councillor Pete Robbins  has responsibility for schools and will be giving the latest update on the new primary school on July 28th

I wonder if there is any news on the plans for a new school, and whether the new government’s decision to do away with BSF (and cut other budgets?) is going to affect this. Clearly there is a real need for more primary school spaces in West Norwood, so hopefully the momentum can continue.

Can anyone clarify whether the budget is actually secure, or is it still in limbo?

The post above says there will be an update on July 28th…is there any news?
