    Hi

There is belatedly an e petition for the closure of Thameslink services beyond Blackfriars. Do sign and forward to people you think would be interested.

    Best wishes

    Jo-anne

We now have an e-petition on Lambeth’s website, opposing plans to terminate the Wimbledon Loop service at Blackfriars, and it would be very helpful if you could add you name.

You can find the cross-party petition here:

    Hi ,
I am about to complete on a flat purchase on Knights Hill and have heard all the news that Nat West has moved due to area being so rough .can you advise ? She’d any light or hope ?

    • Emily

Hi Gary – I live around the corner from the ex-NatWest and in my experience the levels of antisocial behaviour in the area have decreased massively since I moved here 5 years ago (not that I’ve ever felt unsafe living here with my two children). There’s obviously a lot that can still be done to improve the appearance of the high street, but I’ve seen so many positive changes in the past few years and wouldn’t consider moving any time soon! And I’d never have described West Norwood as ‘rough’ at all – the fact that a particular badly run bank branch got targetted by armed robbers doesn’t mean that gun men roam the streets!

Hi I run the Horns Tavern in West Norwood which is directly opposite West Norwood Station. I have been running it for 13 years. I feel that West Norwood has a fantastic community hub. It has its trouble like any other area but I have never regreted living here or having a business in the area.

  6. I’ve lived here 12 years and have never seen any trouble. I love West Norwood.

Hi Gary. I grew up in West Norwood, moved away and have chosen to live back here with my family. I feel perfectly safe to do so since the community feel is great, supported further with the work of the Norwood Feast. West Norwood is midway through a regeneration period with the proposed redevelopment of the library site, possibly to include a local cinema. Also there’s the development of the site opposite West Norwood Station, at the end of Devane Way (incidently, this was named after a local priest that worked closely with Lambeth in Norwood for many years). The new development will include sports facilities and space for local doctors, dance classes, gym, etc. Should be amazing. This is a great time to buy in West Norwood, before the prices rocket! Best of luck!

Hello I am a local resident since 2007 and Counsellor for Children & Adolescents I witnessed many positive changes in West Norwood and wishing for further improvements.

  9. Why is the Lambeth Council so addicted to planning blight and job destruction with unaffordable plans for replacing a wide variety of shops, from fresh fish to home furnishing, including B&Q and its car park, by a fifth supermarket (which nobody wants), a second town square (duplicating the open space in front of St Lukes) and 4 – 6 story “lamdmark” buildings, presumably as job friendly as the empty Elmcourt Parade. Also why do we have to wait years to re-open the old Library and Nettlefold Hall (with its spring dance floor, single screen cinema/theatre and disabled access and catering facilities requiring minimal refurbishment – perhaps as supersised work pexerience for apprentices).

  10. Sorry for the mistypes. As an OAP who moved hear in 1996 and have seen the area move steadily downhill my fingers are not what they used to be.
